Armour Rock

Armour rock is made from granite which is famous for being a stable and incredibly weather-resistant stone. The typical chemical composition of granite rocks are quartz, plagioclase K-Feldspar, biotite or chlorite, and mica. At the most, weathering of biotite only results in the production of iron oxides which give it an orange to brown tint.

This is why armour rock is particularly valued as a material for protecting piers, coastlines and areas that are exposed to the powerful corrosive forces of water bodies. The Peninsula of Malaysia is blessed with a huge mountainous range, rich with granite.

 

We have three main sources of armour rock in Penang, Perak and Pahang. Size ranges for the armour rock that we can supply are above 5 kg to below 2 metric tonnes.
